Causes of Hypoglycemia with Diabetes
If a person is suffering from diabetes, the insulin mechanism of the body is not functioning properly. This results in a steady increase in the sugar level. To rectify this problem the diabetics take insulin or some other medicines to lower down the blood sugar levels.
-- If a person takes greater amount of insulin or a higher dosage of medicine than required, blood sugar level may drop too low.
-- Hypoglycemia can also be the consequence of some more intense exercises than your normal routine.
-- It can also be the outcome of not eating proper meal after the diabetic medication.
Causes of Hypoglycemia without diabetes
Hypoglycemia is not very common in people without diabetes. But the cause in such case may include
-- Medicines: Some medicines used to treat malaria and leg cramps may cause hypoglycemia in children. Taking some diabetes medicine accidentally will also cause hypoglycemia in normal persons.
-- Alcohol: Heavy intake of alcohol without proper eating may hinder the liver in excreting the stored glucose in the blood, causing hypoglycemia.
-- Illness: Chronic illness of liver may also cause hypoglycemia. Kidney disorder may also be one of the cause of it.
-- Tumors: A tumor on the pancreas may cause excessive production of insulin causing hypoglycemia.
-- Insufficiency of Endocrine: Malfunctioning of pituitary gland and adrenal gland may result in an insufficiency of the hormone which are used to control glucose production.
In order to have a better control on hypoglycemia, one must understand exactly that which particular situation is the root cause of hypoglycemia. So that by avoiding those particular circumstances the hypoglycemia can be avoided.
